As a result of the devastating Father’s Day Flood that hit our region on Sunday, June 17th, the Keweenaw Community Foundation set in place a Disaster Relief Fund as a way for donors seeking an official conduit to contribute monetary relief efforts. It is at this time that the Board of Trustees at the Keweenaw Community Foundation will begin the distribution process for the monies accumulated.
The initial funding will result in the distribution of $1,000 Visa gift cards to those individuals whose homes falls under the majorly or completely destroyed spectrum per the list complied through the Houghton County Unified Command.
An application can be obtained online on the Keweenaw Community Foundation website (PDF), by calling (906) 233-6621, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Completed applications must be submitted to Dial Help for review. After review, qualified applicants will be notified with instructions for the redemption process. We understand that not all individuals who receive this information are eligible at this time and we hope that with the donations that continue to roll into our Fund, that we can reach out to a wider range of individuals during our next phases of distribution.
**Please note that the funding at this time is to support those who were currently living in the home, whether by rental or ownership, not for landlords.**
